Amazon’s $8B Deal Spotlights Backup Power
Investments in reliable backup power are skyrocketing.
A recent Data Center Dynamics article reports that Generac has signed a long-term agreement with Amazon to supply up to $8 billion in backup generators for its data centers. Initial deliveries are expected to total approximately $2.4 billion over the next two years. The announcement demonstrates just how critical emergency power infrastructure is becoming in the data center industry.
Backup Power Is Only as Reliable as Its Fuel Supply
While generators are essential to keeping data centers operational during power outages or prior to grid interconnection, they’re only one part of a larger system. They depend on fuel delivery and properly designed fuel handling systems. Even the most advanced generators can be compromised by fuel contamination, interrupted fuel delivery, or equipment failures.
That’s where Preferred Utilities supports the growing data center industry. We provide fuel handling solutions that are designed specifically to support mission-critical facilities.
Our comprehensive fuel system solutions include:
- Fuel Oil Transfer Pump Sets: Delivering reliable fuel transfer from bulk storage tanks to generator day tanks.
- Fuel Filtration Systems: Helping maintain the quality of stored diesel fuel and reduce contamination risks.
- Fuel System Controllers: Providing centralized monitoring, automated control, and coordination of complex fuel delivery systems.
- Tank Monitoring and Leak Detection: Helping protect critical infrastructure through continuous monitoring and early identification of potential problems.
These are just a few of the products we have designed to make sure your data center’s power generators are up and running as soon as they are needed. Check out more on our Data Centers page.
