Preferred Announces Updated PLS Liquid Level Switch Probes
DANBURY, CT – In early 2024, Preferred Utilities Manufacturing Corporation (PUMC) introduced a new generation of PLS Liquid Level Switch probes featuring an innovative adjustable mounting connection. This advancement utilized a compression fitting to lock the probe securely in place when tightened. However, the initial design, which included stainless-steel ferrules, was intended for one-time use only. (A ferrule is a small ring or sleeve used to secure, seal, or strengthen a connection between components. In the PLS probes, ferrules help lock the probe in place, with stainless-steel ferrules being single-use and nylon ferrules allowing repeated adjustments.)
After extensive feedback from the service team, Preferred has refined the PLS design to better meet customer needs. The updated PLS probes now feature nylon ferrules in the compression fitting, enabling repeated use for greater flexibility and value.
Effective immediately, all newly manufactured PLS probes will include the improved nylon ferrules. Please note that some previously shipped probes still feature stainless-steel ferrules and remain single-use.
To help identify the difference, refer to the images below. The stainless-steel ferrules are shown on the left, while the nylon ferrules are on the right. We recommend confirming which ferrules your probe has before setting the compression fitting.
