Special Olympics is part of our family at Preferred
All of us at Preferred are very proud of Danielle, the daughter of one of our long-time team members and a fantastic Special Olympics athlete.
Danielle started out in the Unified Sports program at Newtown High School. Once she grew out of that program, she was ready for her next challenge—and that’s when her family learned about the Special Olympics team in Danbury. She’s been active in Special Olympics for six years.
Danielle’s parents now serve as certified coaches in Special Olympics, and it has become a huge part of their lives. They say the impact of the program on these athletes is life changing. Some of the participants have profound physical or intellectual disabilities, but Special Olympics makes sure they all have the opportunity to enjoy the entire experience without barriers. According to Danielle’s parents, they’ve never heard an athlete complain about their disability—they only want to have the chance to compete and improve themselves.
Preferred is proud to serve as a sponsor for the Danbury Special Olympics team. Thank you for your inspiration, Danielle!
